Why "A Big Old Mess" is gone

You may have noticed that I've deleted the post "A Big Old Mess." Many of you read it and your comments opened a great dialogue. I just want to assure you that I did not remove it because of any pressure from any of the parties negatively implicated in the post. I removed it at the behest of someone I care about who did not want friends and family hurt by how it could have been misinterpreted.

I will post some comments from her later.

Understood. As before, I pray that things will work out.

Hi, this is Feminarian's dad checking in here. Yes, I'm the one it was all about. I commend my daughter for deleting it (though I personally never even discussed that with her). I fear it was getting a little out of hand, and perhaps people were jumping to conclusions. I want you all to know that I really love the people at my church, and nothing was done here with harmful intent. The Church Board was divided (reflecting the church in general), and didn't know where to go next, and basically I think rather than asking us to leave, they were giving us the option of making that our own decision, and leaving with grace and dignity. Yes, my district minister used the phrase "chickened out," but in retrospect I'm glad they did. It's easy to take potshots at a church or an organization like Titus when you don't know the whole story, but I can understand why some of you reacted the way you did. I sensed some real caring for the well-being of my family in all of it, and for that I am grateful. But I am to blame as well, I served the church for over 10 years, and the divisions came on my watch. I hope our resignations will be the first step toward healing for this fine church, and I do thank you for your prayers.
